Board approves school calendar update for April
April calendar update showing April 13 as a full day, April 14 as a half day
This updated calendar for April shows the 13th is now a full day for students and the 14th is a half day.

ROCK HALL — The Kent County Board of Education has updated the school calendar for April due to an extra snow day used earlier this year.

Prior to the decision made at a board meeting held Monday, March 14, the school calendar listed Wednesday, April 13 as a 90-minute early dismissal day to start spring break.

The weather in January led Kent County Public Schools to use five snow days, when it had only four built into this year's calendar.

To meet state requirements for the number of instructional days, the Kent County Public Schools administration recommended a shift in the spring break schedule.

Wednesday, April 13 is now a full day of instruction for students.

Thursday, April 14 is now a half day, with the middle and high schools dismissing students at 11:30 a.m. and the elementary schools ending the day at 12:45 p.m.

That Friday and Monday, April 15 and 18, are both days off for students and staff.
